Is forex trading legal in Ghana?
Whether an online forex broker can be licensed locally in Ghana is the first thing to establish, and it is not something to take on trust from a review site. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Ghana publishes who it authorises; if a broker is not there, it is operating under a foreign licence.
Forex bureaux are licensed by the Bank of Ghana; online leveraged FX brokers are a separate question and need checking against both BoG and SEC Ghana
Many Ghanaian traders use brokers licensed abroad. That is a different bargain: the account is legal to hold, but complaints and compensation follow the rules of the broker's home regulator, not Ghana's. Know which regulator stands behind your account before you fund it.
SEC Ghana-licensed brokers
We do not publish a licensee list for Ghana yet. The authoritative source is the SEC Ghana licensed operators list, maintained by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Ghana at sec.gov.gh — check a firm there before you deposit. A list copied from a third party ages badly, and a lapsed licence is exactly the detail that matters.
How to check a broker yourself
Open the SEC Ghana licensed operators list at sec.gov.gh, search the legal entity name from the broker's own website footer — not the brand name — and confirm the licence covers the activity you are about to use it for. A licence for one service does not cover another, and a lapsed entry is the detail that matters most.
Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of losing more than you deposit. Most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
